London League Under 15 (2004 & younger)
Whitgift School, Sunday 20th May 2018
Having won the winter league competition with the same age group team we traveled to Whitgift School for the first round of the 2018 summer championship in confident mood.
With the inclusion of a number of new teams the competition is now played in three divisions and we will play against Watford, Croydon, Ealing and Chelmsford in the top league.
At the first tournament we faced matches against Watford and Croydon and these are the individual match reports; –
Worthing 8, Watford 3.
A relatively comfortable win eventually but a very well organised Watford team made it very difficult for us for long periods in this match. We particularly struggled to create good service into the centre forward but the opposition deserve credit for the way that they defended.
Eventually we started to dominate the match, particularly as a result of a a very effective full press defence that often resulted in a counter attack. Grace was particularly impressive marking the opposition centre forward and she also ventured into attack to score a couple of excellent goals.
Overall we definitely deserved to win the match but we didn’t play at our best.
Scorers; – Jamie 4, Grace 2, Mattie 1, Josh L 1
Exclusions; – Josh L 2
Worthing 9, Croydon 4
This was a better performance and we controlled the match form the start and as a result we were able to play all of the squad for good periods.
Once again our defending was the key to our success and all of the squad worked hard to limit the opposition to a relatively small number of chances.
We probably could have scored more goals but we missed a number of chances which we really should have converted. All of the squad made good contributions and this was another encouraging performance.
Scorers; – Jamie 4, Josh L 3, Caitlin 2

Squad in full;- Owen Street, Jamie Bond, Mattie Smith, Josh Luff, Ruby Rosser, Joe Boot, Joshua Davis, Lucy Bullock, Caitlin Silk & Grace Byford.
