In these very challenging times when all swimming pools remain closed in the UK, on Tuesday evening Worthing Swimming Club’s water polo players took advantage of the slight relaxation in the rules that had ruled out any team sports being able to train since the introduction of lock down 10 weeks ago.
The opportunity of training in the pool is obviously not possible but we were pleased to run our first session in the sea directly south of our home pool at Splashpoint.
Following the latest protocols, two groups of six (one boys, one girls) followed the social distancing rules and trained for just under an hour.
It was a touch colder than we are used to and the goals had a habit of floating away at times, but everyone who took part was just delighted to be back in the water.
We have to check the tides and the weather forecast but we are hoping to make this a regular occurrence throughout the summer.
